What are the different ways that companies use animal testing for?

Space companies used to send animals to space to test to see if they would survive or not. Most of them died a few days later and only a small percentage of them would survive. A famous story you would've heard before was about a dog named Laika, that survived her first trip to space but only for 7 hours before dying of over-heating.
Makeup companies test on animals by applying the makeup to them to see if there are any side effects that need to be cleared up. They also inject different chemicals to see what impact it has on the animals. Many animals have become blind or lost one or more of their crucial senses and habits during these procedures.
Medical schools commonly use frogs and rats to test on. They cut the animal open and the students are tasked to make sure the animals are put back in one piece. Spoiler alert, most animals are left in more than one piece.
Many medicine companies also use animal testing to test the medicines before they can use it on humans. This is not only bad for the animals, but not effective as animals have a different system as compared to us humans. This means if an animal survives the testing, a human could possibly not no matter how closely related we are.
There are many different alternatives for animal testing so testing on animals may not be the only option. Scientists choose to do animal testing because they think it is more accurate, even though that isn't the case.
